Should Schools Ban Junk Food?

Credits
Banning junk food is one of the most controversial arguements in Education debates. Some people argue that "school is where children spend most of their time and it is where we lay the foundation of eating habits". Some argue that "[banning] junk food does not teach young people how to make healthy choices; it simply removes some of their options. Both sides make a good point of schools teaching students responsibility about eating junk food. However as the obseity rates continue to rise, i personally think that schools should take action to prevent students from eventually having health related problems. What do you think ?

Highschool Graduations Rises In the U.S

Pinned Image
The Graduations rates in the United States have been rising. The Graduation rate increased to "75 percent [from] 72 percent". This has caused the dropouts to decrease as well, "the percent of students [who] don't graduate on time fell from 2,007 in 2002 to 1,1550 in 2010".Drop outs in high school, however are still a big matter. They still affect the United States economy in a negative way. Researchers also found that graduation rate vary in races, with "91.8 percent of Asian Americans, 82 percent of Whites,65.9 of Hispanics and 63.5 of blacks graduating on time. However some areas in the U.S are still not seeing any improvements on the graduations rates and drop out rates, so teachers have came up with a strategy to work more with those group of kids who are most likely to drop out. On average, "high school graduates earn $130,000 more over their life times, compared with peers who drop out of high school, according to a study. And also, a study shows that "transforming just one student to a high school graduate will yield more than $200,000 in higher tax revenue and savings for the government".

Should P.E Be Required In Highscool?

Arguments Agaisnt P.E In High school

Credits
Requiring physical education in high school has been one of the biggest debates that is still unresolved in some area's like Colorado. The Aurora school board decided "to eliminate health and physical education from its graduation requirements". They voted this way because they wanted to increase math, science and language requirements. Others argued that "removing P.E may not be the answer in an age when obesity is rising and health issues related to obesity are on the rise". Also P.E gives students to "improve overall health and [build] life skills". Also, sitting in school for 7 hours might be exhausting, therefore "its important to increase blood flow to the brain" by being active.Yes some people might say, but i play sports, but for those who don't, P.E should be required.
